Advanced Options for Lotus Notes/Domino

While the default options are recommended for the majority of organisations the CloudMigrator gives users the ability to customise their migration experience. The following are some of the Advanced Options available to customers migrating from Lotus Notes/Domino..

Account/Archive Settings

  • Account/Archive Processing – choose whether to migrate accounts, archives or both.

Appointment Settings

  • Name Resolution – attempt to resolve internal Notes names to SMTP addresses using either the original Internet Email Address or the address used in the destination systems. See the article Lotus Notes/Domino name resolution for more information.

Contact Settings

  • Address Book Processing – specify the combination of address books to migrate to the user’s personal address books in the destination system.
  • Name Resolution – attempt to resolve internal Notes names to SMTP addresses using either the original Internet Email Address or the address used in the destination systems. See the article Lotus Notes/Domino name resolution for more details.
  • Migrate All Group Members – turn this on to always attempt to migrate all members of Distribution Lists/Groups, even if the contact would not normally be migrated due to the address book settings. This means you can choose not to migrate the system address book, but user’s personal contact lists that contain addresses from the system address book would still be complete.
  • People View Name – specify the view name that stores contacts. The default should be correct for most systems, change only if contacts are not being migrated.
  • Groups View Name – specify the view name for contact groups. Change only if contact groups are not being migrated.

Form Types

  • Mail Form Types - specify a list of form type names that will be used for the specified items.
  • Appointment Form Types - specify a list of form type names that will be used for the specified items.
  • Group Form Types - specify a list of form type names that will be used for the specified items.
  • Contact Form Types - specify a list of form type names that will be used for the specified items.
  • Resource Appointment Form Types - specify a list of form type names that will be used for the specified items.

Message Settings

  • Name Resolution – attempt to resolve internal Notes names to SMTP addresses using either the original Internet Email Address or the address used in the destination systems. See the article Lotus Notes/Domino name resolution for more details.
  • Sent Items Destination – specify the destination for Sent Items in the destination system. ‘Sent Items’ can be present in more than one view in Notes/Domino when using ‘Send And File’. If migrating to Exchange 2010/Office 365 then messages can only be in one folder – select the appropriate folder for your requirements. If migrating to GSuite, messages can be in ‘Sent Items’ and have a label applied – if this is required then ‘Folder Within Sent Items’ should be selected.
  • Migrate Non-Standard Views - Define any views to be migrated outside of the normal folder structure. Specify the full view name and the folder to which they will be migrated.
  • Remove X-Headers – remove all message headers with the title X-Notes-Headers. Note that if this is turned on, other ‘X’ headers will still be migrated.
  • Use Date Filtered Views - Use the date ranges to filter email folders.  Can improve performance when performing a migration of a limited date range on large folders.
  • Convert RTF to Mime - Converts Notes RTF Documents to MIME.  Required extra temporary local disk space for conversion.  This should usually be enabled.

Other Settings

  • Domain Replacement – when resolving internal Notes names to SMTP addresses and the name resolution settings are set to resolve to the destination system, use the specified domain in the address. If this is left empty the default destination domain will be used.
  • Server Address Mapping – (Optional) In some cases, CloudMigrator may not resolve a users server. This option allows you to map the server to an IP address. Define any Server to IP mappings eg USERS08/SRV/COMPANY => 123.43.3.4.

System Settings

  • Startup Delay – the delay to introduce when migrating multiple Notes users simultaneously. This generally should be left at the default setting.
